A slow summer bura-bura route

Nia the black cat gathered these spots on her wanders, and I strung the best ones together. They’re numbered in walking order, so follow them and you probably won’t get lost. Kiyosumi-Shirakawa is an old warehouse district where art, the river and new cafés mix at an easy pace. When it gets hot, cool off in a museum or a café — no need to push.

Early morning

Riverside breakfast, then a garden walk

Start with coffee and breakfast near the water. When Kiyosumi Gardens opens, take a quiet circuit around the pond while the air is still cool, then make your way toward the museum before 10:00.
